    The default the Trash path is /user/<username>/.Trash

    To activate the Trash, we can set interval is greater than zero
    fs.trash.interval

    But how to change or define Trash directory path other than default?

    Following are the steps to define trash in hadoop:

    1. First, stop the cluster to add a new property to core-site.xml

    Simply add this property into core-site.xml between configuration tag.

    <property>
    <name>fs.trash.interval</name>
    <value>30</value> (mention time is time-interval in mins for permanent deletion)
    </property>

    This property will automatically create a .Trash directory inside Hadoop user.

    2. Start Hadoop cluster
    start-all.sh

    3. Next,check the trash configuration working by creating a new directory and deleting it.

    Thanks
