    Follow these steps :
    1. First manually delete the files under directory /app/tmp/
    2. Format the name node using command
    hadoop namenode -format
    3. Execute start-dfs.sh
    4. Execute start-mapred.sh
    5. And now your done check the status of your daemons using,
    sudo jps
