Configure your virtual private cloud (VPC) Network with at least one public subnet in each of these <a href=\"https:\/\/console.aws.amazon.com\/iam\/\">Availability Zones<\/a>. These public subnets are used to configure the load balancer to distribute load among instances. For this guide, you are going to create an Application Load Balancer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To create an Application Load Balancer<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the Amazon EC2 console at\u00a0<u>https:\/\/console.<strong>aws<\/strong>.amazon.com\/ec2\/<\/u>.<\/li>\n<li>On the navigation bar, select a region for your load balancer. Be sure to select the same region that you specified for your EC2 instances.<\/li>\n<li>On the navigation pane, under\u00a0<strong>LOAD BALANCING<\/strong>, select\u00a0<strong>Load Balancers<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose\u00a0<strong>Create Load Balancer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>For\u00a0<strong>Application Load Balancer<\/strong>, choose to\u00a0<strong>Create<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Step 2: Configure Your Load Balancer &amp; Listener<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the\u00a0<strong>Configure Load Balancer<\/strong>\u00a0dashboard, complete the following procedure.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>To configure your load balancer and listener<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>For\u00a0<strong>Name<\/strong>, give a name for your load balancer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The name of your Application Load Balancer must be unique within your set of Application Load Balancers &amp; Network Load Balancers for the region, can have a maximum of 32 characters, can contain only alphanumeric characters and hyphens, must not begin or end with a hyphen, and must not begin with &#8220;internal-&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4297\" src=\"https:\/\/prwatech.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1-1-1024x439.png\" alt=\"Elastic Load Balancer\" width=\"850\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/prwatech.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1-1-1024x439.png 1024w, https:\/\/prwatech.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1-1-300x129.png 300w, https:\/\/prwatech.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1-1-768x330.png 768w, https:\/\/prwatech.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1-1-1200x515.png 1200w, https:\/\/prwatech.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1-1.png 1347w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>For\u00a0<strong>Scheme<\/strong>&amp;\u00a0<strong>IP address type<\/strong>, keep the default values.<\/li>\n<li>For\u00a0<strong>Listeners<\/strong>, keep the default, which is a listener that accepts HTTP traffic on port number 80.<\/li>\n<li>For\u00a0<strong>Availability Zones<\/strong>, select the VPC that you used for your EC2 instances. The console can create a security group for your load balancer on your behalf, with rules that specify the correct protocols &amp; ports. If you prefer, you can create &amp; select your own security group instead. On the\u00a0<strong>Configure Security Groups<\/strong>\u00a0page, complete the following procedure to have Elastic Load Balancing create a security group for your load balancer on your behalf.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>To configure a security group for your load balancer<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Create a new security group<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Type a name &amp; description for the security group, or keep the default name and description. The load balancer checks the health of targets in this target group using the health check settings defined for the target group. For\u00a0<strong>Health checks<\/strong>, keep the default settings.<\/p>\n<p>5. When you no longer need a load balancer, you can delete it. As soon as the load balancer is deleted, you stop incurring charges for it. Note that deleting a load balancer does not affect the targets registered with the load balancer.
