Creation of Bucketed Table in Hive
Create Table: Create a table using below-mentioned columns and provide field and lines terminating delimiters.
Load Data into Table: Load data into a table from an external source by providing the path of the data file.
Select data: Using the below-mentioned command to display the loaded data into table.
Properties setting: To populate the bucketed table, we have to set hive.enforce.bucketing property to ‘true’, so that the Hive knows to create the number of buckets declared in the table definition.
Inserting Data into bucket table: Inserting data from previously created table (personal_info) into the bucket table.
As we can see below we have created two partitions and according to 4 buckets had been created.
Now as we navigated to our HDFS file system we can find the created “bucket_table” under mentioned below directory.
As we navigate further into the bucket_table directory we can see that two partitioned has been created depending on the data which was inserted.
And further, as we navigate we can see four buckets have been created for each partition.
